History
The pair of stately stone lions guarding the stoop of the elegant house at 145 W High Street in Waynesburg, PA, remind you that this is a remnant of the Victorian age. It becomes immediately clear that this estate has been lovingly preserved by those who have owned it since one of the original family members, 99-year-old Miss Josephine Denny, died in 1992.
Miss Denny loved to point out that the house she created was a place to keep history alive and available to be enjoyed by all who came to experience the past as the Denny sisters lived it.
Today, the stewards of the Denny House are Pamela and Kent Marisa. We purchased this urban mansion in the spring of 2021 and restored it back to much of its original elegance, a place where guests are welcome to come for parties, cultural events, and even leisurely weekend retreats. Of course, it is also the perfect place for a fairytale wedding or any event.
From the moment we stepped into The Denny House, Kent and I were captivated by its unique charms. We were inspired to transform it into a warm, inviting Victorian venue, a place we could open to the community, a place where history and community could intertwine.
